Staraïa Roussa is a city in Russia about which there is nothing very special to say. Or almost. Because in this city lives a cat named Felix and Felix is not an ordinary cat.
Félix the cat is an animal like no other. He learned that every day at around 10:40 p.m. a passenger train from Moscow to Pskov stops at a station in the city. And Felix has a good reason to know the schedule of this very particular train by heart.
A greedy and cunning cat
For several years, every day, Felix has been going to the Staraïa Roussa station at the same time until this famous train stops for a few minutes. At this precise moment, he places himself in the right place in order to receive a small reward from the train conductor: sausages, croquettes, piece of ham …
All the drivers in this line know that they absolutely have to give Felix the cat a little something, it has become a real ritual.
A star is born
The artist Dmitri Markov, who photographs everyday life in Russia, decided to take an interest in this decidedly different cat by photographing him. Thanks to his work, Felix is now known around the world.
