Goats, sheep, chickens … This is what we have been finding since February 2020 in a park in the north of Paris known for drug trafficking. During that time, in Paris, they created this urban farm to bring families back to the Eole gardens and revitalize a park deserted because of insecurity. This associative project is called “The farms of Hope”. There are several in Paris and the Paris region.
“We also have people who use drugs or wandering people who come every morning to help us as volunteers, whether it is for feeding, for the farm, to work with the public. So no, it’s really… We try to coexist together anyway“, explains Philippine, the manager of the farm.
These farms are based, among other things, on welcoming young people in civic service like Kévin, a resident of the Stalingrad district who has been working here since July 2020. “Coming to the farm, making my first day, I loved being with the animals, seeing the families, they were happy“, he rejoices.
