In Fauguerolles, in Lot-et-Garonne, Valérie Degan, a breeder surprised by the rising water levels, had to resolve to leave, leaving everything behind, including her goats. In an attempt to save the animals, she appealed for help. The farmer and her husband were worried about whether their goats had survived the severe floods that hit the region. Friday, February 5 in the morning, by finding the animals, the relief was at the height of the anguish.
“It really warms our hearts to see them. I know they are waiting for us because we are so attached to them“, confides Valérie Degan. On the night of Tuesday 2 to Wednesday 3 February, while the operation of the breeder was transformed into an island because of the rise of the Garonne, some of the animals were evacuated thanks to the intervention of neighbors. But not all of them could be sheltered at that time. Finally, the intervention of the firefighters will save the animals in extremis from their trap.
