Shelter posts ad for grumpy cat

Willard is a big fat cat with red hair. A cat not quite like the others, with a strong character. To help its adoption, the volunteers had the best idea ever. The one that was going to change the whole life of this cat who only asked for that.

Generally, shelters do their best to describe the animals for adoption with as much kindness as possible, and citing as many positive things as possible. But sometimes the reverse works just as well.

A grumpy cat

The ad to adopt Willard, an old red cat, was definitely not like the others since it explained most clearly in the world that this cat was cranky, had his little habits and absolutely did not intend to change them to please to his human future.

“Are you looking for a loving, loving new friend to snuggle up to?” It is probably NOT that cat. Willard is old. He’s cranky (…) Basically, Willard wants things to be done his way. If you are ready to belong to a grumpy old red tomcat who may very well never be grateful, as he is just as capable of the opposite, come meet him! »Indicates the refuge in the most honest way possible.

Dropped off at the Santa Rosa County Animal Services shelter last September after being found wandering, Willard made it very clear that he was not going to change to please others.

A buzzing ad

Contrary to what one might have feared, the ad for the adoption of Willard made the buzz and met with great success on the Internet where many people offered to adopt the tomcat despite his cranky old character.

But it was one message in particular that caught the attention of the shelter’s volunteers, a message that absolutely no one expected …

A totally unexpected reunion

And for good reason, since it is Willard’s mistress who appeared the second she saw the ad extolling the qualities of her cat. She explained that she lost the cat a year ago, and that she thought she would never see him again.

To prove her point, she did not hesitate to provide many photos of the cat in her company.

Once her identity was verified, the young woman came to the shelter to pick up Willard, who immediately recognized her. And, all of a sudden, the grumpy and sad tomcat transformed in front of his human.

A reunion that warms the heart.
