While due to plead, an American lawyer failed to turn off Zoom’s chat filter. The video of this footage, posted by the judge himself, quickly went viral on social media.
The scene is funny and at the same time, given the situation, one cannot help but feel a little bad for this American lawyer in full video hearing.
An exceptional moment of justice
Judge Roy Ferguson was about to begin the hearing when one of the lawyers scheduled to plead activated his camera on Zoom. So far, nothing abnormal in this period of Covid-19 where meetings are replaced by videoconferences.
Only, on this lawyer’s computer, a kitten filter was activated. The kitten in question was certainly the cutest, but it clearly had no place in the middle of a legal trial ….
Rod Ponton in the video tries everything to turn off the filter, but the funny thing is that the cat continues to speak instead of the lawyer.
“I’m here, I’m not a cat! “
On the video, we can hear the judge say “Mr. Ponton, I think you have activated a filter in your video settings. ”
The lawyer replies in the affirmative: “Yes, but I don’t know how to remove it. I have my assistant with me trying to delete it, but I may have to continue with it. I am here! I am not a cat ”.
Eventually, the lawyer managed to remove the filter after the hearing.
Judge Roy Ferguson decided to post the video on the networks to illustrate the difficulties that legal professionals may encounter during this pandemic. However, he invites spectators not to make fun of the lawyer, but to notice his professionalism.
