To help this cat get better, the vets opted for a rather original solution.
In Massachusetts, a 7-month-old cat was taken to Angell Animal Medical Center following serious injuries from her family’s dog.
A cat in poor condition
When he arrived at the veterinary clinic, Juicebox was very messed up: lacerations, head trauma, jaw fractures… So he needed help, and fast.
Without wasting a second, the vets operated on the cat to help him heal as quickly as possible.
To do this, they used unconventional methods, including sewing on buttons to stabilize the fractured jaw. Thus, four buttons were placed on the cat: two under the chin, and two on its mouth.
With the buttons in place, Juicebox is less likely to damage the sutures, so it can heal faster.
A new life coming soon
Obviously, the buttons will not stay forever. They should be removed in about 6 weeks while the situation improves. As for the tomcat, he will not return to his family.
The latter preferred to abandon him so that he can find a new family in which he will be completely safe, without a dog. Right now, Juicebox needs some rest, but as soon as he’s ready, a new loving family will be sought for him.
