10 Downing Street in London (United Kingdom), the official address of the British Prime Minister, is also the address of Britain’s most famous cat: Larry the cat. It is celebrating ten years of collocation with the various Prime Ministers who have succeeded since 2011. Before Boris Johnson, Larry has indeed teamed up with David Cameron and Theresa May. The feline has become a mascot, reveling in protocol: the police open the front door for him as he pleases.
Of course, Larry is also a communication tool for the image of the government. His popularity among the British, however, never suffered. “He’s the boss”, Laughs a passerby. One thing is certain, Larry spends more time lounging than chasing mice, which was his primary mission when he was recruited. With a very sharp sense of politics, Larry understood that his image matters as much as his record as a mouse hunter. So, as soon as a camera approaches, he knows how to highlight himself and make himself indispensable.
