It was in Turkey that Neslihan Oranci had the surprise of his life when he discovered that some animals are able to learn to meow for a very specific purpose.
Since living in Turkey, Neslihan Oranci has been feeding stray cats in his neighborhood daily. But often, the tomcats ask for more and again and start meowing in front of the animal lover’s door to let him know.
A crow that watches (and meows)
One day, Neslihan Oranci heard meowing outside his window. Not in the least surprised, he took a look to see which greedy tomcat was asking for another dose of food.
It was there that he had a big surprise because it was absolutely not a cat begging for something to eat. And yet, the animal had indeed meowed… But it was a jay.
By dint of observing the little merry-go-round of cats, the bird has learned to meow in order to also obtain something to eat.
Once the surprise was over, Neslihan Oranci gave food to the bird, which rushed to fill its stomach. He also showed that he had learned other cat “cries” as he offered a range of different meows to the impressed Neslihan Oranci.
We let you discover this jay which meows in video!
