A young wolf has been seen several times this week in Kochersberg, north of Strasbourg, reports Saturday March 13 France Blue Alsace. The animal was seen wandering about ten kilometers northwest of Strasbourg near the villages of Saessolsheim, Berstett and Ingenheim, along the high-speed train line. According to France Bleu Alsace this is a first.
Many photos and videos of the wolf have been posted on social networks. “There is even one where he is being chased by a person on a quad”protested Alain Laurent, founder of the independent network the Observatory of Wild Carnivores. “Avoid disturbing him. There is no danger, but the wolf is a protected species and you can be fined if you get too close”, he warns.
The specialist is not surprised by the presence of this wolf. He could be looking for new spaces: “This corresponds to the period when the young wolves leave their pack to settle in a new territory, he is probably passing through”, explains Alain Laurent.
