A whale about fifteen meters long ran aground on Saturday March 27 on the beach of Merlimont (Pas-de-Calais), reports France Bleu Nord. This cetacean is, behind the blue balaine, the second largest living animal on the planet.
The whale was discovered by a walker on Saturday March 27 afternoon around 4:30 pm The body of the animal was very damaged, “in an advanced state of decomposition”, explains the mayor of the town, Mary Bonvoisin.

According to France Bleu Nord, the animal must be released on Sunday March 28 and will undergo analyzes which will determine the causes of its death. In the meantime, a security perimeter has been set up so that the inhabitants do not approach the cetacean which belongs to a protected species.
