He calls a taxi to take his dying cat to the vet
In full curfew, while veterinary emergencies are authorized, this taxi driver decided not to accept the race.
Manel Juanola’s cat started to feel very bad on March 2nd. This inhabitant of Mallorca did not hesitate for a second and called a taxi so that he could transport his cat to the vet.
Unfortunately, the driver refused.
This happened shortly before midnight, that is to say in full curfew in Spain. According to the newspaper Ultimahora.es, the cab attendant refused to take her to the vet at night “because of the curfew”.
A cruel refusal
As he tries to negotiate on the phone, the man sees that his cat is dying: “I got very nervous because I saw that he was dying. The man told me that there was a curfew due to the pandemic and that there was nothing they could do, ”Manel explains to ultimahora.es.
Manel loves her 12 year old cat, Duende. He then insisted for a long time, but the taxi service hung up on him twice. However, in Spain as in many countries, the curfew does not prevent the management of veterinary emergencies. This taxi company therefore had the right to take the cat to his veterinarian.
“He told me that if Duende died, I could adopt another one,” adds the man, who specifies that his interlocutor was cruel and had nothing to do with his grief, or even his cat.
Manel had no choice but to transport it himself. The clinic is about 3 kilometers from her home, a 45-minute walk.
Once there, the cat was operated on urgently and must stay several days in hospital.
