Many shutdown sectors are counting on government aid. This is the case for restaurants, traders, but also private zoos of visitors because we must continue to feed the animals and pay the staff.
At the Zoological Space of Saint-Martin-la-Plaine, in the Loire, the alleys are empty and the animals await visitors. For Pierre Thivillon, the founder, this zoo vsis his whole life. In 50 years, it had never experienced a shutdown of several months. But this passion has become a financial sinkhole. The new government aid could finally allow it to catch its breath.
“Obviously it’s hard to bear, and there is the anxiety of the next day. For 50 years we have never asked anyone for anything and today we are here, almost reaching out”, Confides Pierre Thivillon, tears in my eyes. The new aid is expected to continue in the spring. Enough to finally switch the accounts in the green and give a little serenity to all the inhabitants of the park.
