This kitten with a head
A tiny kitten struggles to survive despite everything.
Stephanie Medrano volunteers at the Stray Cat Alliance shelter in Los Angeles. Two weeks ago, she received an urgent call about a tiny kitten that had just been born and was in dire need of help.
An adorable little head
The little tomcat was born with twisted hind legs and a cleft palate. Despite everything, the kitten had a good appetite and showed a strong will to live.
The kitten’s owners received the grim diagnosis from the vet. They didn’t know how to take care of his paws, but wanted to do everything to help him.
When Stephanie learned of the situation, she immediately volunteered to help him. She agreed to pick up the kitten the same day, just hours after birth.
As soon as she saw his little face, she knew straight away that she was going to call him “Granpa” because he had the face of a grandfather.
24 hour care
Because of his cleft palate, Sweet Grandpa needs to be tube fed 24 hours a day. Stephanie placed a soft toy next to him that mimics the heartbeat to make him believe that his mom is by his side and that he never feels alone.
To help correct her crooked paws, Stephanie began massaging them every two hours at mealtimes. Thanks to Stephanie’s care, in 10 days, Grandpa has almost doubled her weight and her coat is beautiful.
The little kitten spends a lot of time napping and is growing well. He will soon open his eyes to see for the first time.
Later, he will likely need splints to walk and most likely will have surgery to repair the cleft palate.
We wish him a lot of courage and a good life in Grandpa!
