A woman drives 10 hours to help a cat
Harmony, a stray and pregnant cat was saved from the street thanks to the tenacity of a volunteer from an association.
The solidarity of a neighborhood
It was in the streets of Ontario in Canada that Harmony, a street cat, led her wandering life. People from the neighborhood regularly gave him food, but the animal always remained at a distance, very fearful.
One day, a local resident notices that the cat is expecting babies. After many unsuccessful attempts to capture the animal, the inhabitants decide to contact an association: Dorset Rescue Kittens.
Cailey Seymour, founder of the association tells LoveMeaow : “A group of people tried to catch it, without success. So I decided to make it a personal mission to help her ”.
Capture with kitten meows
To capture the animal, Cailey had borrowed a trapping cage from another association. But despite encouragement from the neighborhood, the mission seemed to get complicated. Once the cage was set up with food to attract the beast, Harmony was nowhere to be found.
After a while, the cat finally showed the tip of her nose, but wary, she fled at the mere sight of the cage! Desperate, Cailey tried to think of a solution to attract the mother-to-be.
Using her phone, she decided to put on the sound of a video of crying kittens in the trapping cage. Pregnant cat hormones oblige, Harmony arrived in less than 15 seconds in the cage!
10h drive and a nice surprise
Harmony was then secured in a transport crate and started a long drive with Cailey: “I drove 10 hours in one day to catch her – 4 hours here and 4 hours on the way back with several stops in between. both “.
Two days later, in the safety of her foster family, the young mother cat gave birth to four beautiful kittens (3 females and a male).
Without Cailey’s quick intervention, the cubs would have been born outside and added to the large population of stray cats.
Harmony seems to be perfectly acclimating to her indoor life. She provides all the necessary care for her little ones, which she feeds, grooms and protects.
The four kittens now have a name, they are: Leanne, Brittany, Halli and Banksy.
In search of a family
Harmony who had only known the streets until now remains shy with strangers, but she gradually begins to demand attention.
Cailey described her as a cat lover: “There isn’t an ounce of meanness in her and she’s going to be a great companion.”
The kittens have now grown well and are waiting, just like their mother, to find a loving family who will know how to take care of them.
